Reason #412 to Love the Internet

I recently purchased a HP laptop.

I am extremely impressed with the box’s performance, agility, and flexibility to handle all computing tasks.

My HP joyride, however, came to a crashing halt when the sleek Quick Play buttons on the front console of my keyboard stopped working.

After considering shipping the machine to HP for a fix (I am still under warranty), I did some Internet searching for my specific problem “QuickPlay buttons”. One of the main results returned was from http://www.notebookreview.com/. I hadn’t heard of the site before so I decided to give it a shot.

I quickly learned that this Internet destination site is quite the place for all things around notebook/laptop computers. This site has it all: reviews, forums, coupons, price lists –pretty much anything and everything someone would need when owning or considering a laptop purchase.

I scanned the ‘boards’ for my QuickPlay problem and found a number of ‘experts’ discussing my very computer. I jumped in with a post of my own and a concerned ‘helper’ eagerly answered my question. He directed me to a specific download page on the HP site.

After a quick 30 second download and install, my problem was resolved. I was once again able to conveniently mute, increase, and decrease volume right from my keyboard.

Cheers to Notebookreview.com and cheers to the Internet for bringing like-minded people together in a forum such as this to help one another. Ihave to wonder: how did computer problems get fixed 10 years ago? Undoubtedly, it was a much more painful experience.

Until next time,
