COMIC: Local News You Can Lose

Unfortunately, local news has lost its way.

As ratings for local television news has plummeted, the news directors and executives have resorted to sensationalism to attract a generation that’s going elsewhere for news (Web, cable, friends, or ignorance).

As a media wonk, I’d encourage news outlets to think of reporting on themes that celebrate the best of mankind. This is an uphill climb as stations are under enormous pressure to deliver results (ratings and ad dollars) – now.
