Think And not Or
It is easy to define your life by limits.
- I don’t have enough time.
- I am too old.
- I don’t make enough money.
- I don’t have a fancy enough car.
What if you changed your viewpoint on these statements that might be holding you back?
I don’t have enough time.
How about being smarter about how you spend your time? Do you watch too much television? Probably.
Do you stare too often into your smartphone, thinking the secret to reaching your hopes, dreams and goals is hidden in an app? Yes.
I am too old.
If we could freeze time at the flick of a switch, we wouldn’t hesitate for a split second. Bad news. We can’t. Start working on your business idea today. Start filling out the application for school now. Age is a number – you are defined not by your age, but by how hard you work.
I don’t make enough money.
I have everything I need. No matter how smart, suave and sensational you think you are, there’s always someone who will pass you by without blinking. You aren’t defined by your title, paycheck, string of accolades. Focus on doing the best at your job today, tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after next. Set a goal to embody excellence in all that you do in the office, in the field, at home, in the boardroom. And don’t keep score. You have more than enough.
I don’t have a fancy enough car.
I am blessed to have a vehicle to get me from Point A to Point B. All cars – no matter the price tag – will rust, deteriorate and stop working. Your kingdom ‘on wheels’ will crumble to pieces in the future. Fancy stuff is nice, fun, but its satisfaction is fleeting.
You life will not be defined by limits. You are limitless. You have no boundaries. Lift up a friend, coworker or family member. Set an example for others to follow. Work smarter than you thought was legal. Today, you are a new person, capable of marvelous things.
Think And not Or.
Until next time,
